Jelle Martens
Jelle Martens’s eye catching work combines strong graphic blocks of colour woven together with saturated grainy photography to create dynamic visual palettes. Jelle Marten is a Belgian Artist, Photographer and Graphic Designer and has exhibited his work in Leuvens and Gent, Belgium and in Cork, Ireland as part of the Cutting Edges – Contemporary Collage exhibition at the West Cork Arts Centre. That’s about all I can find out about this mysterious character. The section of a quote from his site below gives a little more insight into his work.
“Shape music image tone triangle color collage paper texture pattern old wallpaper sticker book illustration drawing graphic pen paper pencil face beer circlediamond illustrator symmetry geometry black white light contrast” loose translation from Jelle’s site.
I’m fascinated by his ‘In the Quivering Forest series’, reminds me of art projects we use to do in primary school but the results were probably not quite as sharp as Jelle’s. Find more of his work on his site below or on his filckr.
These are awesome!
Thanks for the comment, They’re so simple but really powerful and they fulfill my penchant for triangles!
