Studio Swine – Open Source Sea Chair
Studio Swine in collaboration with Kieren Jones at the Royal College of Art have put together an open source design for the production of chairs made from recycled plastic found at sea with a DIY process of collecting, melting, casting and assembling. The idea was Influenced after the discovery of a Garbage Sea Patches in the late 90s, which are predicted to measure over 1,400,000 km². You can download the full manual to make your own here.

Whilst sad to see how much plastic ends up in our waters – the recycling of this plastic into practical designs such as the Sea Chair brings some reprieve. The other comfort is seeing, on the short clip, these fisherman removing the plastic from the waters.
