I saw this over on Nialler9 last week and I’ve had it on repeat all weekend. So early but I doubt anything else will beat this for song of the year. It’s by a Cork based Irish musician who goes by the moniker of Talos and accompanied by yet another emotionally charged video from Feel Good Lost, who have been mentioned a few times on Surface & Surface before namely the recent video for Hozier, Take me to the Church. Tethered Bones is the only song I could find by Talos so far but really looking forward to what comes next. You can watch the video or just listen to the song on the soundcloud link below.

Hozier / Feel Good Lost
I’ve been listening to this song ‘Take me to Church’ all weekend. The video by Cork natives Feel Good Lost is also great, you can see a previous post of them here. I missed Hozier at the last Electric Picnic but hopefully get a chance to see him this year; no doubt with massive crowds.
Four Tet / The Creators Project
I saw this new video about Four Tet (aka Kieran Hebden) over on Nialler9 today. One of my favorite albums Rounds is now a decade old. The short film was made by the Creators Project, directed by Dan Wilde and made from animated stills. In it Hebden talks about his daily routine while making his third album and insights into how some of the tracks came about. From influences as broad as the euro star, falling in love to Dawson’s Creek; Rounds is a beautifully versatile classic everyone should listen to.
Mat Maitland / Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs
Embroidered album art work for Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs by Mat Maitland of Big Active. Photography by Stephanie Sian Smith.
Harrys / Pepepiano
Here’s a really great video by the fantastic film makers Harrys for Fallopian Dudes by Pepepiano. It’s like a happy summer version of Radiohead’s ‘Street Spirit’. You can listen to the full album ‘Kings’ on their bandcamp. If you liked this one check out Harry’s video for Toro Y Moi’s ‘Say That’.
Jonathan Britnell – 2012. 366 days. 366 seconds.
I saw this video over on Booooooom last week. Such a great idea Jonathan Britnell filmed one second of every day in 2012 to make a video diary of the year. The music is “Thunder Clatter” by Wild Cub. If you like this idea head over to Cesar Kuriyama’s Kickstarter page to see the new app he’s developing to give everyone the chance to easily do this on their smart phone.

Pezet x Jimek – Kijek / Adamski
Happy New Year! I just saw this over on pleasure of chaos. Really clever and simple idea for a music video directed by Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski for Reebok. No idea what the lyrics are about but the visuals are great. If you liked this one have a look at their video for Oi Va Voi back in 2009 lots of shredded paper.
Sonny Kay
Mad Photoshop skills from LA based visual artist and musician Sonny Kay. These are all examples of the Album Art he’s been doing over the years. Sonny Kay also did the art work for ‘Street Meat’ by Dublin based band No Spill Blood (that one’s at the bottom of the end of this post). Shed loads more mind bending stuff on his site below.
El Guincho – Bombay / Marc Gómez del Moral
Astrology, rock lifting, stick licking, motorbiking, fluorescent tube fighting, egg to face collisions, explosions and plenty of boobs come together at last in this video by Marc Gómez del Moral for an absolutely fantastic song ‘Bombay’ by El Guincho. Spanish Cinematographer Marc Gómez del Moral has done loads more amazing work for the likes Battles, Two Door Cinema Club, White Lies and Oh Land. NSFW
