Yola
I saw one of Yola’s large scale collages pasted on the side of the Hackney Bureau today. I really like her style, a little nod to the baroque with everyday people in epic scenes and some religious iconography. There’s also a Conor Harrington piece on the gable next to the cafe, you can see a little bit of it below. Hopefully be seeing lots more new stuff since my move to London.
Pezet x Jimek – Kijek / Adamski
Happy New Year! I just saw this over on pleasure of chaos. Really clever and simple idea for a music video directed by Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski for Reebok. No idea what the lyrics are about but the visuals are great. If you liked this one have a look at their video for Oi Va Voi back in 2009 lots of shredded paper.
Żaneta Antosik
Some great layered illustrations of Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Tilda Swinton and Michael Fassbender by Polish Artist Żaneta Antosik. Loads more work on Żaneta Antosik’s blog here.
Szymon Roginski
Beautiful fragmented photography from Szymon Roginski. This project was put together for Polish Fashion Designer Ania Kuczynska. Influenced by the Cublist who’s work attempted to break the two dimensions of painting. The photographs were built into hundreds of hand made solid shapes and rearranged to create these images. You should check out the rest of Szymon Roginski’s work on his site below, he’s got some amazing images from his travels in America and Asia.
Victor Soma
Some nice surreal and pop art influenced work from Krakow based Polish Illustrator, graphic / motion / interactive designer Victor Soma.
Victors illustrations are available in t-shirt form through Kurara here.
Daria Pietryka
Beautiful paintings from Polish Artist and Architect Daria Pietryka.
“She believes that art and architecture are inseparable elements, and that they permeates through each other. She perceives building as a functional sculpture, interior as an abstract composition.”
I was very impressed with her exhibition ‘The Peculiar Case of Ms Cloud’ in 2010 at the Mill Theatre Dundrum in Dublin.
