Casey Weldon - Cella Gallery - Femme Fatale - surface and surface

Casey Weldon

Some really nice work in “Femme Fatale” exhibition at the Cella Gallery, Los Angeles running until March 17th.

“Gathers some of the most powerful contemporary artists whose inherent aesthetic is heavily influenced by the beauty of the female figure. The exhibition explores how individual perceptions of feminine allure can be expressed through each artist’s specific genre. Expect to be seduced, ensnared and dangerously dazzled as though in the crosshairs of a femme fatale herself.”

All work from the exhibition is available to view here on their tumblr.  Artists include: Aaron Nagel, Apricot Mantle, Anna Chung, Aunia Kahn, Casey Weldon, Cate Rangel, Charles Ketcham, Chris Peters, Christopher Umana, Cristina Paulos, Chrystal Chan, David Bray, Dave MacDowell, Delphia, Douglas Alvarez, Edith Lebeau, Gail Potocki, Jason Rudulph Pena, JAW Cooper, Jeff Ramirez, Jessica Ward, JoKa, Jose Carabes, Ken Garduno, Korin Faught, Kris Moore, L.Croskey, Lily Mae Martin, Linnea Strid, Morgan Slade, Nicole Bruckman, Nom Kinnear King, Paul Chatem, Sara Haase, Sarah Folkman, Stella Im Hultberg, Ted von Heiland and THH70.

4 prefab77 - surface and surfaceNew exhibition from Prefab77 entitled ‘Lightning Strikes Twice’ at The Outsiders, Newcastle, England. They’ll be showing new work and techniques, including original art and a series of varied edition prints.  Opening Friday 20th of January 2012 and runs until Saturday 18th of February 2012.

“They are pioneering a new technique employing oralite film, a substance used to coat road signs and police cars for example, using a ubiquitous urban material as a medium to reflect their fast, hard-edged, stripped down artwork. Oralite strongly reflects light, lending an arresting glow to the works in question. The ubiquitous but little-known element of the urban environment ideally suits Prefabʼs hard-edged, stripped-down art. The effect is both haunting and beautiful.” The Outsiders

maurizio cattelan 04 surfaceandsurfaceRetrospective exhibition of controversial Italian born artist Maurizio Cattelan’s work at the Guggenheim, New York.  Famed for his disturbingly hyperrealistic sculptures, most notably that of Pope John Paul II killed off by a meteorite.

As the name alludes the exhibition contains ‘All’ Maurizio Cattelan’s work since 1989.

Hailed simultaneously as a provocateur, prankster, and tragic poet of our times, Maurizio Cattelan has created some of the most unforgettable images in recent contemporary art.
